Electricity generation is the single largest source of carbon emissions in the United States. Wilhite Solar Solutions is working toward changing the way homes and offices are powered. What can you do to help with or without a solar power system? Here are some things to consider:
#1 Save a Watt where ever you can. Turn off the lights when you leave a room, and turn off power strips in your home when you are traveling or on vacation. These tiny acts can save you money and have a big impact on your carbon footprint.
#2 Install a programmable thermostat or “smart thermostat” such as the Nest. The savings from an “energy hog” such as an HVAC system can be considerable not to mention the benefits to the planet.
#3 Add additional insulation to your attic space. Over long periods of time, some types of insulation can settle and therefore do not insulate as well. Re-insulating or adding insulation not only can have a quick return on investment, it will reduce the load on your HVAC system as well as save on carbon emissions.
We hope you enjoy saving energy and reducing power plant emissions as much as we do. If you have your own energy saving tips, please share them with us.
